The theory was that if you had a square that was tangent to a circle on every side and the square was larger than the circle, if you split the sides of the square infinitely, then you would eventually have a circle. But even if you did do this infinitely, what happens is that you still have tiny parts that are still sticking out from the circle.

If the theory was true though, then pi wouldn't exist, which would also result in "pi" being 4 x the square root of 2.

Squaring a circle is a myth that has been busted.

The theory was that if you had a square that was tangent to a circle on every side and the square was larger than the circle, if you split the sides of the square infinitely, then you would eventually have a circle. But even if you did do this infinitely, what happens is that you still have tiny parts that are still sticking out from the circle.

If the theory was true though, then pi wouldn't exist, which would also result in "pi" being 4 x the square root of 2.
